Sharla Goettl's powerful book is so inspiring and empowering. She offers fantastic insights that invite you to dive into the scriptures deeper and look at your covenants in a whole new light! This beautiful book is a reminder of how deeply God keeps His promises. With clarity and compassion, Sharla explains covenants in a way that feels personal, hopeful, and empowering. In a recent interview with Sharla, she answered a few interesting questions about her new book called Covenant Power: Transform Fear Into Faith Through the Power of Jesus Christ.
What have you learned about covenants while writing this book?
My covenants bring me a great deal
of confidence, making me less afraid and more successful. The endowment is
God’s masterclass on godliness. It teaches the principles and attributes
necessary for Heavenly Father to share His power with us.
The law of obedience promises me
fairness and respect. The law of sacrifice promises me only what is better than
I already have. The law of the gospel promises me enduring love. The law of
chastity promises me increased power. The law of consecration promises me all
that our Heavenly Father has.
Do you have any personal experiences or stories
related to the topic of covenant joy that you would be willing to share?
I had some divine interaction that
prompted me to quit a dream job working in Manhattan for the billionaire
Michael Dell and go back home to sleepy Mesa, AZ. It ended up being the best
guidance of my life. Soon after I married my husband, I was surprised with an
early pregnancy. A few short years later I lost my ability to have children. If
I had not listened to the Spirit, I would not have my daughters today.
While working on this latest book
covenant power, I prayed deeply about what these scriptural heroes might have
been experiencing and feeling in their moments of decision. There were frequent
times when I had to stop writing until more inspiration came. It was a long
struggle over three years. When I finally felt the book was complete, I was
satisfied. Shortly after, while working my typical shift at the temple, I was
in the middle of performing an initiatory ordinance when it felt like a whole
new chapter downloaded into my brain. It took my breath away for a second. The
whole opening and closing of the book had to be rewritten, with two more
chapters besides. I am so grateful for the added knowledge I received that had
never occurred to me before.
